• Medium Term Scheduling Focus • Career Development Opportunity • Several Roster Options
Broaden your experience base by joining one of Australia’s most challenging mining operations, producing in the region of 2.5 mtpa of iron ore from a substantial open pit configuration. An owner operated mine in Tasmania’s north west region, working with an experienced team of mining industry professionals, you will be responsible for the medium term scheduling required for delivery of the 3 Month Mine Plan.
You will join a small team of Mine Planning Engineers reporting to the Mine Planning Coordinator. With a minimum of 3+ years in open pit load & haul bulk mining operations in both production and planning roles, and ideally will include interim pit and dump design. Relevant software in use at the Mine includes Surpac, MineSched and Deswick, your experience will include these or similar software packages.
With the current Life of Mine projected beyond 2030, the Company is undertaking a feasibility study to evaluate the development of underground operations using the block cave approach. Obviously this will present the potential to significantly enhance your career experience profile.
This key role will ensure the medium term planning process reflects production requirements at both the Mine and the ore processing facility. In terms of your own career planning process, there is the prospect of developing into a Team Leader role in the Planning function, or of moving into a broader production related position. One significant advantage of a one mine operation is the opportunity to gain first-hand exposure to, and to work with, the different mining disciplines on a day-to-day basis, something that is difficult to achieve in the larger stratified mining companies.
This role offer the opportunity to establish your home on Tasmania’s north-west coast, away from the high housing costs of the mainland. The Mine operates several roster options built around the drive in/drive out approach, providing excellent accommodation, messing and recreational facilities during your time on site.
