• Interface between Planning & Production • Major Open Cut Operations • Residential & FIFO Options This is the opportunity to join one of Tasmania’s most challenging mining operations, producing in the region of 2.5 million tonnes of iron ore from a substantial open pit configuration. An owner operated mine with a direct hire workforce , managed by an experienced team of mining industry professionals, you will be responsible for the coordination, development, scheduling and management of the M2C Weekly Plan on a two week schedule to ensure the achievement of the 3 Monthly Mine Plan and Forecast. The key link between Planning and Production. You will join the Mine Operations Technical team reporting to the Mine Planning Coordinator. Your experience should include 2 to 3 years in open cut mining operations in both production and planning roles, and ideally will include drill and blast experience gained as part of your graduate training program. Your software knowledge should include working experience with mine planning software such as Surpac, MineSched and the recently introduced Deswick , or similar relevant packages. A Quarry Manager’s Ticket or the desire and the necessary experience to achieve one, would be an advantage. A key success factor for this role will be the ability to develop a supportive relationship with the Pit Superintendent and his Production team. You will be able to demonstrate the ability to achieve desired outcomes through negotiation and relationship building, with sound interpersonal skills. In terms of your own career development process, this is very much the interface between Planning and Production, and is focussed on operations today and over the next 2 weeks. A role which is ideal for an Engineer who sees production and operations management as a longer term career objective. All employees live on site during their chosen roster with excellent on-site accommodation, messing and recreational facilities provided. There are 2 roster options in place. The 5/2:4/3 roster provides the opportunity to establish your home on Tasmania’s north-west coast, away from the high housing costs of the mainland in a relaxed urban environment. The alternative is the 8/6 roster which is ideal for the FIFO option out of Sydney, Melbourne or Adelaide.
